I get a lot of emails from folks asking me to recommend a good Photoshop book. I used to have a few reviews here...but they soon became outdated, as the software upgraded, the operating systems upgraded, and new Photoshop books flooded the market.

In lieu of listing books, as I can't possibly keep up, I've instead opted to list my TOP THREE favorite Photoshop Authors. This does not imply there aren't a bunch more out there that are great...but these are my personal favorites whom I attribute to being the springboard and inspiration of whatever Photoshop ability I may possess.

My suggestion to "newbies" is to make sure the book you are purchasing is in sync with your current version of Photoshop.

Author and "comedian" Scott Kelby has a ton of Photoshop Books, as well as other titles. If you're looking for quick recipe-like instruction to create great design effects or digital photo tricks....his books and videos are the bomb!

Author Katrin Eismann has excellent Photo Retouching, Restoration and Masking books for Photoshop. Her books contain tips from professionals around the globe. She's a sweetheart!

Author Ben Willmore is genius in his technique and is one of the best teachers and presenters I've seen. If you want to get to know "the mind" of Photoshop, so you don't have to follow recipes, his Studio Techniques books and videos are grand!

So there you have it! Now go do a search on Amazon or browse your local bookstore for books by these fine authors and Photoshop Gurus!

Even though time goes on, and Photoshop changes, I don't believe you could go wrong buying any books by these folks...or whatever future books these authors might pen!
